I have a Laister LP-49 and am looking for a polar graph for it. I
would also like to talk to anyone who has added a total energy probe
to the vario on this glider. It has metal flight surfaces and a
plastic body with solid bulkheads. Might be a trick to plumb the line
from the vertical stab.

Jim,
Check here for an alternative TE solution sans the antenna part.

Also consider, if all else fails, purchasing a Westerboer vario that
has electronic total energy. They work well and there is at least one
older VW920 for sale on Wings and Wheels. These also give you speed to
fly and final glide info. Used, they are a great deal.

Hi Jim,
I used to own LP-49 #7. I installed an ILEC fuselage TE probe a bit
forward of the tail fin and it seemed to work just fine. I could not
see an easy way to mount one on the fin.

Oran Nicks published a series of articles in the Soaring Magazine in
the late 70's? about TE probes a Google search or a check of the on-
line version of old Soaring should have them.
